As a British native living near Aspen Colorado, I grew up with a great appreciation for food, thanks to both parents being excellent cooks.
From early experimentation with donated lumps of leftover pastry at age 3 until today, my lifelong passions for cooking and writing finally came together – and so Edibletcetera was launched in August of 2010.
Each dish here is prepared, photographed and tested by me and by my constantly hungry friends – so the reader can rest assured that each recipe has met with all-round approval for your enjoyment and for mine!
I love being creative with food (sometimes just with what’s in my fridge) and I’m regularly on the lookout for fresh inspiration and recipe ideas, shared or found. I cook, photograph, eat, then write about the tastiest dishes that deserve to be shared, focusing especially on those that require the least effort, using natural ingredients. Occasionally, dishes don’t get to make it onto this site, for which my dog is always grateful.
You’ll also find some traditional recipes and classics that I feel deserve to remain at the forefront of everyone’s kitchen repertoire.
You don’t need special culinary skills; here are simple steps using good quality ingredients prepared in an easy-to-follow and straightforward way – and always with delicious results. The few time-consuming recipes you’ll find on these pages will be due to a slow-cooking process or perhaps a 24-48hr marinade, freeing you up to do other things.
You’ll also read that occasionally I like to eat my way around England, mostly defending the formerly much-maligned British cuisine, so I hope you’ll join me on Edibletcetera’s culinary journey, where I always welcome your comments and suggestions.
Finally, I believe that if you love good food you love life itself!
‘Bon appetit!’
Jacqueline
I already like it!
We are totally bloggered!!! To be serious, we are impressed. Please keep us bloggered.
I, too, wonder to where all the manners have disappeared. It is shocking and I look forward to a revival that takes the US by surprise with the suggestions and delights of this blog.
Simply divine, my dear!
YES! Witty women unite! LOVE THE PICS!!
Love the picture however, I think you should be a model. This should be your new career.
It’s great to see the beauty behind the brains.
Everyone ought to know the grace you radiate!
Love the pic!
Yes, I like the photo as well.
Ohhh Jackie, even with a British mum, my children’s manners are less than ideal. I will try my best to avoid running in to you when I have my three boys, lest you run in a complete panic.
They are a work in progress, that is for certain.
You’ve done a wonderful job with your blog. Thank you for the guidance.
I’ve been managing 4 and 5-star restaurants most of my career and it is wonderful to learn that good etiquette is not lost.
Your life is one-happy-roller-coster..I love it that you love all those things! Best wishes!
You nailed it Liz…and thanks! I could say the same about you…I’ve always felt that people who love food, love life!!!
I am definitely making the latest entry; “Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt Discs”. mmmmm. Stay tuned for updates from test trials. All my colleagues are coming over to look at this blog.
